Pune Police Arrests NCB’s Independent Witness KP Gosavi, Who Was On The Run Since Oct 3

PUNE: In a major action the Pune Police on Thursday said that it has arrested KP Gosavi, the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) independent witness in the luxury cruise drug bust case. A local court here sent him to eight days police custody.

Gosavi, whose picture and videos with Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan had gone viral on social media on October 3, was arrested in connection with a cheating case registered in Pune in 2018. Speaking to media, Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said, “We arrested Gosavi around 3 am from a lodge in Katraj area. He was residing here by changing his name.”

Gosavi was produced in a court tat sent him to eight days police custody. Gupta said that a charge sheet was filed against Gosavi in 2019.

Earlier, Gosavi’s bodyguard Prabhakar Sail had alleged Gosavi of receiving money on the night of the raid at the luxury cruise in Mumbai. Gosavi had denied the allegations and had said that he will surrender before the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow. However, his request to surrender in Lucknow was denied by the UP Police.

The NCB which arrested Aryan Khan along with seven others on October 3, a day after the raid at the luxury cruise ship had mentioned Gosavi as an independent witness. .Till date the NCB has arrested 20 people in connection with the drugs case. Aryan Khan was granted bail on Thursday afternoon by the Bombay High Court.

Meanwhile, over the allegations of extortion and payoffs, the NCB has also ordered a vigilance enquiry against its Mumbai Zonal Unit Director Sameer wankhede. Even Mumbai Police formed a four member team to investigate the allegations of corruption against wankhede on Wednesday.

Wankhede was questioned by the NCB vigilance team for over four hours on Wednesday in Mumbai.
