Amrit kaal Budget only for capitalists: AAP’s Sanjay Singh

Expressing disappointment at the Union budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the government has made no provision to strengthen health infrastructure in the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic.

He said, “This budget fails to deliver. It did not address the growing unemployment, farmers’ MSP, defense personnels, inflation, and more importantly improving the health infrastructure after COVID-19 pandemic. I am disappointed.”

Taking a potshot at the government, he said that the Union budget 2023-24 failed to provide any support for farmers, defense personnel and youth.

Speaking to The New Indian, he said, “If you look at this budget, I will summarize my reaction in three lines: na kisaan, na jawaan, na naujawan, budget me kisi ke liye nahi hai pravdhaan.. amrit kaal me amrit ke liye taras raha hai aam insaan, poonjipatiyo ki loot hui hai insaan.” (Not farmers, Not defense personnels, not youth – this budget lacks provision from any of them. Common man is struggling for amrit  in this age of amritkaal. It has become easier for Capitalists to loot people.)

He also said that the government has failed to deliver on the promises made in the last budget. “Who is the budget meant for? PM Modi promised 2 crore jobs. Where are they? He promised to double the farmers’ income, did it happen? How will this budget address the problem of high inflation?” said AAP MP Sanjay Singh.

On the government decision to extend tax-rebate for people earning 7 lakh rupees, Sanjay Singh said that this is insufficient. He said, “This decision is simply like Oont ke moo me jeera. The government is portraying it as if they’ve granted a huge relief but it is insufficient to fulfill the needs of common people.”

On the question of promoting millet production and research, Sanjay Singh slammed the government for ignoring the plight of farmers. He said, “The government has given nothing to the farmers working hard in their fields growing rice and wheat. You couldn’t double their incomes like you promised.”
