NEW DELHI: India has a reason to celebrate. The country today achieved a historic 100 crore Covid-19 vaccination-mark, further strengthening our fight against the pandemic.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and expressed gratitude to doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers who helped India achieve the historic 100 crore Covid-19 vaccination-mark.
Modi, who was accompanied by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, also gave a thumbs up to the health workers at the hospital.
He has been personally interacting with the caregivers from time to time and even the receivers to offer encouragement and know the situation on the ground.
Even today, he spent a good time at the hospital interacting with those on hospital visit. The ones to be vaccinated in this batch included a specially-abled person. A divyang girl even sang a song for the Prime Minister.
The specially-abled man who the PM enquired after could barely hold his excitement after. He appeared overwhelmed at the concern shown by the PM. The PM also made conversation with the hospital security guard and nurses administering the jab.
“India scripts history. We are witnessing the triumph of Indian science, enterprise and collective spirit of 130 crore Indians,” PM Modi posted on Twitter.
Modi has always been urging everyone to take Covid vaccine through his public speeches, tweets and monthly address ‘Mann ki Baat’. He often mentions about ‘Dawaayi bhi kadayee bhi’ (yes to medicine, yes to caution) to curb the Covid spread.

The mass vaccination drive in India began on January 16, 2021.
The vaccination drive was extended to health care and frontline workers during the first phase, following which senior citizens and people with comorbidities were made eligible.

PM Modi has been constantly pushing the vaccination programme in the country, along with all the necessary precautions.
The prime minister took the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin at Delhi’s AIIMS on March 1. His second dose of vaccine was on April 8.
