Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said that he will remove Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  from Uttar Pradesh, while addressing a mega-rally in Khammam, Telangana organized by BRS supremo KCR.

He said, “If BJP is being weeded out from Telangana, then Uttar Pradesh won’t spare any efforts. You remove them from your (Telangana) state. We will uproot them from Uttar Pradesh.”

Emphasizing that Uttar Pradesh is an indispensable milestone in the journey to Prime Ministership, Akhilesh said that PM Modi had to bank on Uttar Pradesh in his bid to become the Prime minister. He said, “People who wish to be Prime minister, do come to Uttar Pradesh. That’s why you must have seen that he (PM Narendra Modi) came down to Uttar Pradesh from Gujarat. If he could become the Prime minister from Gujarat itself, he wouldn’t have left it behind.”

It is pertinent to note that Prime Minister Narendra Modi won Lok Sabha polls twice from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi in 2014 and 2019, before being elected as the Prime Minister.

Akhilesh Yadav attacked BJP for failing to deliver on their promises. He said, “The BJP government is pulling wool over people’s eyes by floating a luxury cruise over the holy river Ganga, but they could not even clean it despite holding immense significance in our culture.”

He also pulled up BJP for failing to provide welfare to farmers. He said, “BJP promised to double the farmers’ income by 2022. Now we’ve entered the year 2023 but seeing the sufferings of farmers, it seems BJP’s clock has stuck in the year 2022.”

Further, he said that BJP is only focussing on creating obstacles for opposition parties. He said, “This land of Khammam has made its mark in the history of political struggle. The people of Khammam have always raised their voices against the biggest government and forces. And the BJP government is working to cause trouble for the elected governments.”

The public meeting, organized by Telangana CM KCR was attended by opposition heavyweights including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Kerala CM Pinaryi Vijayan, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, CPI leader D Raja among others who had all flown to Khamman around 200 km away from the state capital, on his invitation.
