AAP leaders blamed top government officials for not releasing funds for its various welfare schemes
The tussle between Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena took a new turn as AAP demanded the suspension of Delhi’s chief, finance and health secretaries for not releasing the funds and not clearing the files related to various schemes.
AAP once again reiterated that Delhi government officials are acting at the behest of the Delhi LG. The party also alleged that LG is working on the direction of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-run central government.
On the third day of the Delhi assembly session, AAP leaders gathered near the well and raised slogans against the Delhi LG and all three secretaries.
Ram Niwas Goel, the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, adjourned the house until Thursday. The three-day session was also extended for the fourth day as a few businesses were still left to address.
AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said chief secretary Naresh Kumar feigned ignorance and pretended that he didn’t know anything whenever they pointed it out.
“We gave the news clippings of at least three newspapers. We asked him if he did not read that doctors are not getting their salaries in mohalla clinics, tests are not happening in mohalla clinics, the Delhi Jal Board is not getting funds and Waqf Board funds are stalled. He replied that he does not read newspapers. “How did this happen?” wondered Bhardwaj.
Bhardwaj also said Kumar gives threats and arm-twists other officers. “Delhi’s CS Naresh Kumar gives threats to other officers and forces them to stop the welfare scheme started by the AAP-led government,” Bhardwaj alleged.
“The wilful negligence and dereliction of duty by Mr Amit Singla, IAS and Dr AC Verma, IAS Principal Secretaries Health and Finance had resulted in absolute chaos in the Delhi Govt hospitals as OPD Counters remained unmanned for many months just before MCD elections,” Bhardwaj stated in a tweet.
He also said the OPD counters act as the first point of contact for patients coming to hospitals for treatment. Workers at these OPD counters make the OPD card for patients. These workers were abruptly removed from Hospitals for many months.
“Because of this, security guards and sweepers are now manning the OPD counters, causing mayhem as they had no clue about this task,” Bhardwaj added.
He said a detailed investigation by The Committee on Petitions of the Delhi Legislative Assembly has revealed that it was a deliberate attempt to sabotage the healthcare services of Delhi by certain officers at the behest of the Delhi LG.
