The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against a Bihar man for radicalizing impressionable youth over various social media platforms for carrying out violent terrorist acts.
Filed in a special NIA court in Patna, the chargesheet said that Marghoob Ahmad Danish was the admin of ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’, a group created on several instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram and Bip Messenger.
In popular parlance, the phrase Ghazwa-e-Hind is understood to mean the conquest of the Indian sub-continent by an “Islamic army”.
The case was originally registered at Patna’s Phulwarisharif police station and registered against the agency on July 22 last year.
In a statement, the agency said that Danish was the admin of the WhatsApp group ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ created by a Pakistani national named Zain.

“He had added many persons from India as well as other countries, including Pakistan and Yemen, with an intention to radicalize them and to constitute them into sleeper cells for carrying out terrorist activities,” it said.
He had also created another WhatsApp group named ‘BDGhazwa E HindBD’ and added Bangladeshi nationals.
Accused Danish has been charged under sections 121 (waging war against the government of India), 121A (conspiracy to overawe the Central or any state government by means of criminal force or the show of criminal force) and 122 (collecting arms, etc., with intention of waging war against the government of India) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
He is a resident of Muneer Colony of Phulwarisharif in Patna.
In October last year, the NIA conducted raids in Phulwarisharif in connection with the case.
The NIA arrested two persons – Athar Parvez and Jalalludin from Phulwarisharif on July 11, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar. According to the agency, both were hatching a conspiracy to carry out a terror attack during the PM’s visit to the state.
During the investigation, it came to the fore that they were part of a terror module.
Danish was arrested in October for online radicalisation of gullible youth. “Investigations have revealed that accused Margub Ahmad Danish was a self-radicalised individual and was in contact with a number of foreign entities on the WhatsApp group,” the agency had said.
It had also said that members of the WhatsApp group glorified terror acts in Kashmir with the aim of radicalising impressionable youth.
