If state government is responsible, so is the central government, who try to divert attention by arresting the son of a Bollywood actor.”
After delivering a fiery speech in Lok Sabha in which she tore into Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for failing to rein in drug menace in the sate, Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal expressed her concerns about increasing instances of narco-terrorism in the border state.
Urging governments to stop playing politics on drugs, Kaur told the The New Indian, “Punjab is being targeted with narco-terrorism for the last six to seven years. Governments have been playing politics on drugs. When Congress was in power, they had promised that they would get rid of drug menace within 4 weeks in 5 years. They could do nothing. Kejriwal also promised the same. But now the situation is such that the Supreme Court is giving them an ultimatum. The court told them that they only filed chalan in three cases out of hundreds of cases.
She said that the parents are wary of bringing up their children in Punjab because schools have become dens of drug abuse. “No one wants to keep their children in Punjab because parents fear that their children will get easy access to drugs in schools,” she said.
Pointing out the worsening law and order situation in the state she said, “Whether it is a shop-owner or a businessman everyone is getting open calls for extortion. Law and order has completely collapsed and the situation is so dire that gangsters are running drug rackets from inside jail. This is the first time that police headquarters are being attacked with rocket launchers and grenades.”
She put the blame of rapper and singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s death on the AAP government. “They withdrew his security and then publicized it on social media. Of course the CM is responsible for his death. The Punjab police has not been able to make any headway in the case. Delhi Police got some breakthrough in the case,” she said.

Where did the 3000 kg of heroin seized at the Mundra port in Gujarat come from? We need to stop playing politics on drugs.”
Earlier in the Parliament, Harsimrat Kaur Badal slammed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Lok Sabha over the issue of drug addiction in his state even as she alleged that the AAP leader used to attend Parliament in a “drunken” state.
