In a horrific reminder of the Shraddha Walkar murder case, a man from Jharkhand’s Sahibganj was detained by police for allegedly killing his wife and then chopping her body into pieces before dumping it.
The police had identified the accused as Dildar Ansari, while the deceased woman has been identified as Rabika Pahadin. According to the police, 22-year-old Pahadin, who belonged to a primitive tribal community, was Ansari’s second wife.
The police have so far retrieved at least 12 pieces of her body. They had also launched a search operation to recover the remaining pieces of the body.
“At least 12 pieces of the body of the 22-year-old woman belonging to a primitive tribal community were found in Sahibganj. Some parts of the body are still missing, and the search for them is underway,” the police said. “Her husband, Dildar Ansari, has been detained by police. The deceased was his second wife,” police added.
Meanwhile, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that crime against women has increased in recent times. The party also expressed concern about the influence of the terror organisation Ansar Bangla and asked the authorities to get to the bottom of the matter.
“Just like the gruesome murder of Shraddha Walkar, a similar incident has come to light in Jharkhand with the body of a young woman chopped into 12 pieces. Police have arrested her husband, Dildar Ansari. It has also come to light that Ansari married this simple tribal lady just 10 days ago,” Pratul Shahdeo, a state BJP spokesperson, said.
The party also said that there is a targeted attack on the women of a particular community. “There has been an increased attack on women in the state in recent times. Rape cases have seen a drastic increase. Some wicked-minded people, belonging to a particular community, are targeting women and girls from the majority community,” Shahdeo alleged.
Shahdeo said that the party had raised red flags over the activities of Ansar Bangla. But the authorities failed to take any action on the matter. “We had previously expressed our concern about the growing influence of the terrorist organisation Ansar Bangla, which promotes such a wicked mindset.” But no action has been taken so far,” Shahdeo said.
“We demand strict actions against such organisations and people. If the authorities fail to act, then we will take to the streets pressing for our demands,” Shahdeo warned.
The incident came to light after the mutilated body of a woman was recovered from an old house in the Santhali Momin Tola area on Saturday evening, following a police complaint filed by her family members.
