In a first, Pak-based JeM commander’s house bulldozed in Pulwama

Currently based in Pakistan, the JeM terrorist is an accused in the 2019 Pulwama attack that claimed the lives of at least 40 CRPF jawans.

Ashiq Hussain Nengroo is primary involved in pushing terrorists from Pakistan to Kashmir Valley through LoC.

In a first, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has demolished the illegally-built house of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) commander Ashiq Hussain Nengroo in Pulwama district of southern Kashmir. He is an accused in the 2019 Pulwama attack.

A bulldozer razed the Pakistan-based terrorist’s house which was allegedly constructed on an encroached patch of land – arguably for the first time even since terrorism hit Kashmir three decades back.

In April this year, the Central government declared Nengroo as a “designated militant” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He has been involved in pushing terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir and is also responsible for perpetrating various terror attacks incidents in the Union Territory, according to the Union home ministry.

He is accused of running a terror syndicate in Kashmir and is now “engaged in a perilous campaign to orchestrate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, remote controlled from Pakistan, as per the ministry.

The house was build illegally on a portion of land encroached upon by his family.

Nengroo is an accused in the Pulwama terror attack which claims the lives of at least 40 CRPF jawans in 2019.

A master’s degree holder in Urdu, Ashiq Ahmad Nengroo worked as a driver before following his brother into joining terrorists ranks. He is married and has two daughters and a son, according to the Jammu and Kashmir Police. His brother Abas Nengroo was an active terrorist of JeM and was killed in an encounter with security forces in Achgoza in 2013.

Ashiq started working as an OGW (overground worker) for JeM and was mainly involved in transporting smuggled weapons for the terrorists in his vehicle from one place to another.

As per the police, he operated under the code name ‘Amjid Bhai’ and transported more than 20 terrorists who crossed into the Valley from Pakistan between 2016 and 2018.

He was arrested by the Pulwama Police in 2013 but later granted bail by a court.

After a truck carrying terrorists, arranged by him, was caught in Udhampur in 2018, he went underground and later crossed over to Pakistan through the Line of Control (LoC).

He is currently based in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) and is involved in motivating Pakistan youth to infiltrate into the Valley to carry out terror attacks.
