After Chirag Paswan, leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) decided to campaign in support of BJP in Mokama and Gopalganj by-elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reacted gently saying that it’s alright if he wishes to campaign in favour of a BJP candidate.
Pointing fingers at the BJP, he also said, “Who fielded an LJP candidate against us in the last assembly polls? It was the BJP.”
Speaking about Late Union Minister and LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan he said, “We always respected Ram Vilas Paswan. Not only that, we supported him in the early days. He (Chirag) is a kiddo. Let him do what he thinks is right”.
In the context of the upcoming by-elections of Mokama and Gopalganj assembly, “Voters are the final judge and they will decide on the matter”.
Yesterday, Chirag Paswan announced that his party – the splinter group of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) – will support the saffron outfit in the Mokama and Gopalgunj by-polls.
Paswan is the son of the LJP founder and former union minister late Ram Vilas Paswan. He is also a Member of Parliament from Jamui in Bihar.
He announced his decision after he arrived in Patna from Delhi, where he had discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Home minister Amit Shah.
After meeting his party leader, Paswan said, “Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will campaign for the BJP in the by-elections to Mokama and Gopalganj.”
“The decision has been taken after a long meeting on Saturday night with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, with whom I have been in touch for quite some time,” the 39-year-old said.
