IN PICS: How Shiva Looks During Night

Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh | Updated: 12 October, 2022 12:37 pm IST

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the breathtakingly revamped Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday evening, and said that the renovation reflects the timelessness of India’s spiritual energy that sustained the country through the period of slavery and colonisation.

PM Modi unveiled the first phase of the Rs 850 crores project.

The ‘Mahakal Lok’ corridor aims to conserve and restore heritage structures and to decongest areas surrounding the ancient temple.

The footfall at the temple is expected to increase to 3 crore per annum when the second phase and last phase of the project is completed. The corridor contains 108 pillars, depicting Anand Tandav Swaroop (dance form) of Lord Shiva.
