The videos of six girls taking a bath were made by a female student of a hostel, located on Mohali-Ludhiana Highway, said the FIR, filed on Saturday, after the ‘video leak out’ created a furore.
All the videos were found deleted from the girl’s mobile phone after she was caught filming them. The girl claimed to have sent the videos only to her male friend Sunny, who is based in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla. She denied having sent it to anyone else, stated the FIR.
The accused girl is now in the custody of Mohali Police. A case under Section 354 (C) of the IPC and 66 (E) of the Information Technology Act has been registered at the Kharar police station of Mohali district.
According to the FIR, a copy of which is with The New Indian, on Saturday at 3 pm, six girls of the college hostel informed the warden that they had caught a girl who had filmed them while they were in the bathroom.
The warden took that girl and six other students to the manager of the hostel. The warden and manager asked the girl to show her mobile phone.
“After repeatedly being asked and grilled by the warden, manager, and other students, the accused girl confessed that she filmed the videos and sent them to her friend Sunny in Shimla. She had deleted all the videos from her mobile phone after sending it to him,” said the FIR.
The FIR also suggested that while she was being questioned by the hostel manager, she was repeatedly getting calls and messages from a mobile phone number (6269….. 76).
The manager and warden told the girl to ask the caller to send back the videos. The girl then asked the caller to do exactly that. The screenshot of one of the video clips, which she made, was sent back on her mobile phone. After this, it got confirmed that she had made the videos and sent them, the FIR said.
The accused girl said she had sent the videos only to Sunny, and didn’t know how others got the videos, the FIR further added.
The college staff then informed the local police and gave their statements. They also handed over the girl and her mobile phone to the police.
Police said in the evening, they got a call from the college that hordes of students had gathered inside the campus and were holding demonstrations against the ‘leaking out of the videos’. The senior officers reached the spot and pacified the students.
Police also said that they have sent a team to Shimla to nab Sunny. Further investigations were on.
