Lakhimpur Kheri Horror: My Wife Will Identify Them, Says Victims’ Father

Watching the mortal remains of their teenaged daughters, brutalised in a most heinous way, is tough for any parent.

But determined to get the culprits punished, the father of the two girls from the Lakhimpur Kheri horror case says that his wife will wipe away all her sorrows and will testify against the six accused in one of the most hideous crimes against women.

“I haven’t seen them. But my wife knows three of them,” the grieving father said. “If they were brought in front of my wife, she would identify them,” he added.  “I want justice. I want the culprits to be hanged,” the father said.

Two teenaged sisters were found hanging from a tree in a sugarcane field located about a kilometre away from their house in Nighasan police station limits.

Local villagers and the family of the victims on Wednesday lodged a protest. They marched and blocked the road, demanding justice for the minors.

The police have so far arrested six accused identified in the case – Chotu, Junaid, Sohail, Hafizul, Karimuddin and Arif.

Reliving the horror, the father said, “I saw my wife following the abductors. She was also kicked by them.”

“When I returned from the field, I could not find anyone in the house. I also ran behind. When my wife saw me running, she came back and told me what happened,” he added.

“They were taken to a sugarcane field where they were raped and then hanged,” he said.

The father said that he is not happy with the investigation so far. “We haven’t faced the rapists yet. We are not happy with just the arrest. There could be more people,” he said.

Refuting the murmurs that the girls are known to two of the accused, the father said, “We don’t know Junaid or anyone. They were never in our house.” “My daughters never spoke about any of the accused, nor was there any talk about marriage.”

Meanwhile, police officials said that the accused were friends with the deceased girls – who were 15 and 17 years old. The accused lured the teenagers to the farms where they were raped by Sohail and Junaid. According to police, Sohail, Hafizul and Junaid strangled and killed them after the heinous crime.
