Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit will kick off a mega march from Nabanna (the State Secretariat) at 1 pm on Tuesday. The rally is being held to protest against the alleged corrupt practices of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in the state.

Section 144 has been imposed in the secretariat area and it has been earmarked as a high-security zone. Heavy police deployment has been made in all districts through which the rally would pass.

Three prominent leaders of the West Bengal BJP Sukanta Majumdar, Dilip Ghosh, and Suvendu Adhikari would be leading the march and take it out from three different directions.

The first procession of BJP workers would gather at Howrah Maidan and Bankim Bridge. They will march towards Nabanna led by BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar.

The second procession will come from the Santragachi bus stand. It will be led by the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Subhendu Adhikari and other MLAs. The third group of rallyists will come from College Square led by BJP National Vice President and MP Dilip Ghosh and other BJP leaders.

“An apprehensive Mamata Banerjee, in order to stop a few lakh people from reaching Nabanna, has put up barricades across West Bengal, ensuring that the whole State comes to a grinding halt. This is called cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face. BJP workers will still reach.#CholoNobanno,” Amit Malviya, the BJP leader, tweeted.

Amid the massive gathering, the State and district BJP units are accusing the police of stopping their workers from reaching the places from where the ‘Nabanna March’ will begin.

On social media groups, the state BJP unit has posted: BJP workers are being arrested one after the other outside Tamluk station. A large police force was deployed outside the station. The normal public is also being detained.’ It has been alleged that no one is being allowed to catch any train.

Many BJP leaders have also stated that since their vehicles have been stopped by the police, they would be marching from their districts to reach Nabanna.

The Kolkata Police have asked people to avoid the Second Hooghly Bridge from 8 am to 4 pm and Howrah Bridge from 12 pm to 4 pm. Traffic is likely to be disrupted in large parts of the city. As a safety measure, the traffic will be regulated on several roads in the city to avoid any kind of untoward incident.
