PM Modi To Interact With Winners Of National Teachers Award

PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation for 9th time from the ramparts of Red Fort on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with winners of the National Awards to Teachers, 2022 at his residence in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day on Monday.
A total of 46 teachers from across the country have been selected through the rigorous and transparent online three-stage process for the award this year.
The purpose of the National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate and honour the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country who through their commitment and hard work have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
The meeting will be held after the awardees are honoured by President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan, as per the Ministry of Education.
In a tweet, PM Modi extended greetings to “hardworking teachers”. “Greetings on #TeachersDay, especially to all the hardworking teachers who spread the joys of education among young minds. I also pay homage to our former President Dr Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary,” he said.

Along with the 46 teachers, two more from Uttarakhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be awarded under a special category for differently-abled teachers.
In her address at the award ceremony, President Murmu said that the development of original talent in science, literature, or the social sciences can be more effective in the mother tongue.
“India’s school education system is one of the largest education systems in the world. In more than 15 lakh schools, education is being imparted to more than 26 crore students by about 97 lakh teachers. Teachers are the life force of our education system,” she told the gathering.
Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry of Education has been organising the national level function on Teachers Day every year to confer awards upon the country’s best teachers.
Teacher’s Day is celebrated in India in memory of former Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher-author and India’s second President who was born on September 5, 1888. His contribution to the field of education is recognized widely. The tradition started in 1962.
