I May Be Arrested Soon: Sisodia After Raid

“I may be arrested within a couple of days but I am ready to face the challenge. I never indulged in any corruption. I am not wrong, so I don’t worry. I will be cooperating with the CBI probe,” said Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia

“I may be arrested within a couple of days but I am ready to face the challenge. I never indulged in any corruption. I am not wrong, so I don’t worry. I will be cooperating with the probe. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will get nothing,” said Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, while holding a press conference at his house, hours after a raid at his residence by the CBI, on Saturday.

He termed the crackdown an act of “political vendetta” against AAP and “a conspiracy” to stop Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, “who is gaining popularity and posing a threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2024 elections”.

Sisodia flaunted a snapshot of a New York Times (NYT) article about Delhi government schools. He compared it to the previous article in NYT a year-and-a-half ago about burning bodies near the Ganga. Sisodia said then we felt shame as Indians and now this positive article about schools is a matter of pride for all of us.

Sisodia said, “For them (BJP), corruption is never an issue. Their problem is Arvind Kejriwal. They just want to stop the Kejriwal wave. They know the work done by Kejriwal and that our party can deal a major jolt to them. That’s why the CBI is conducting raids at my house and offices.”

“In the 2024 elections, it will be a contest between AAP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ” he added. Sisodia also said, “CBI’s FIR didn’t have any mention of Rs 8,000 crore neither Rs 1,100 crore nor Rs 144 crore. It is all a sham.” “CBI’s FIR says that sources have hinted at money rotation. How could it be?” he asked.”

He said the central government was not worried about the liquor scam. “Had they been worried about the excise duty scam, they would have shifted the HQ of CBI to Gujarat.”

“There is Rs 10,000 crore of corruption in the excise department of Gujarat. The CBI never went there,” he added.

He also raised the issue of Bundelkhand Expressway, a stretch of which caved in a week after its inauguration. “Had they been worried about corruption, the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) would have been investigating the Bundelkhand Expressway that was inaugurated by PM Modi,” pointed out Sisodia.

He also said it was not a coincidence that at a time when the health and education work of AAP is being lauded across the world, the health minister of Delhi was arrested. “They (BJP) want to destroy the model of education and health of AAP,” he added.

On Friday, in one of their longest searches in recent times, the CBI recovered some confidential documents related to Delhi’s New Excise Policy from Sisodia’s house.
