I-Day Celebration Also Pledge For Building New India: U’Khand CM
“The Amrit Mahotsav that we are celebrating today is a reward for the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and martyrs. I pay homage to all the immortal martyrs and agitators of Uttarakhand state formation. The Independence Day celebration also calls for a pledge to build a new India and a self-reliant India. The Tricolour fluttering in every house gives the message of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ to the world,” said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, after he hoisted the national flag at Parade Ground, Dehradun on Monday.
To mark the day, the CM presented the ‘Chief Minister Meritorious Service Medal’ for distinguished work to the police officers and employees. Dhami congratulated all the people of the state on the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence.
He added that there should be a focus on the respect for the farmer, welfare of the poor, opportunity for the youth, upliftment of women, innovation in technology, strong recognition of India on the world stage and permanent solution to the problems of history — all this with the strong will of the Prime Minister and visionary leadership. He added that in the last eight years, projects worth more than 1.5 lakh crore have been approved by the central government for Uttarakhand.
“Reconstruction of Shri Kedarpuri is the best example of Prime Minister’s vision, leadership and determination. Work is also being done on the master plan of Badrinath Dham. The work on Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project is going on in full swing. The survey of Tanakpur-Bageshwar railway line and Doiwala to Gangotri-Yamunotri railway line has been approved by the Government of India,” said the CM.
“A lot of work has been done on the Chardham All-Weather Road Project to improve the road connectivity of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri as well as Tanakpur-Pithoragarh. Delhi-Dehradun elevated road will help one travel from Delhi to Dehradun in just 2 hours. Paonta Sahib-Dehradun, Banbasa-Kanchanpur, Bhaniyawala-Rishikesh, Kathgodam-Lalkua-Haldwani bypass and Rudrapur bypass projects have received important gifts from the central government. Jolly Grant airport is being made of international standard,” the CM added.
Elaborating on other projects, he said that the Green Field airport is being developed at Udham Singh Nagar district, connections have been given to more than 7 lakh families of rural areas of the state under ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ under Jal Jeevan Mission, the ‘Uttarakhand Integrated Horticulture Development Project’ approved by the government of India will prove to be a milestone in horticulture and Rs 1,600 crore Uttarakhand Urban Water Supply Project are important drinking water schemes in 38 small towns.
“Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the state government is working with a dedicated spirit for the all-round development of Uttarakhand. Special focus has been given on simplification, solution, disposal and satisfaction so that people get the benefits of the schemes and their problems are solved.”
“There has been a qualitative improvement in the work culture due to the transparent system of Apni Sarkar Portal, E-Cabinet, E-Office, CM Helpline, Right to Service and Transfer Act. Now any person of the state can contribute in ending corruption by complaining on 1064. We have constituted a committee for Uniform Civil Code as promised by us. Three meetings of the committee have also been held. We are going to provide three cylinders free of cost to poor families,” said CM Dhami.
