Major Tragedy Averted, 30 Kg Of IED Found In Pulwama

SRINAGAR: A major tragedy has been avoided after security forces found an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing 30 kg at Tahab crossing on Circular Road in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Wednesday.

Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar told The New Indian that an IED weighing around 30 kg has been detected by a joint team of police and security forces on inputs of Pulwama police.

Following which a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the area, in a moment it will be defused, the top cop said.

Meanwhile, a fierce gunfight is underway between terrorists and security forces in the Waterhail area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.

“03 terrorists of LeT(TRF) including militant Lateef Rather trapped in ongoing encounter. Terrorists Lateef is involved in several civilian killings including Rahul Bhat & Amreen Bhat (sic),” Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.
