NEW DELHI: The revision of pension under the One Rank One Pension (OROP) is in process, the Union ministry of defence informed Lok Sabha on Friday.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt cited an order of the Supreme Court dated March 16 this year, saying, “Revision of pension under OROP with effect from July 1, 2019, is in process.”

The original OROP, when implemented, mandated a review of pensions every five years.

Implementing the OROP was one of the key poll promises that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made in 2013. The OROP was implemented and new pensions were rolled out.
