JAIPUR: Dhankhar household in Rajasthan is a divided house. However, the political difference failed to strain the strong ties the Dhankhar brothers share.
NDA’s vice-presidential candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar has been a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but his brother Randeep Dhankhar owes his allegiance to the Indian National Congress.
“We both are from different political parties but that never was a problem for both of us. He is not a governor at home nor am I a Congress worker. We are family and live like one unit,” Randeep told The New Indian, who visited his residence in Jaipur.
There is a stream of visitors at Randeep Dhankhar’s residence in Jaipur. Hailing from Kithana village in Jhunjhunu district, the news of Jagdeep Dhankhar being the vice-presidential candidate has made his family proud.
“Since his name has been announced, we are getting visitors, calls and media people every day. It’s good to see that my brother who has done so much in his political career, now has a chance to become a Vice-President. This is a matter of pride for us,” said Randeep, who is a lawyer in Rajasthan High Court, said.
Randeep said that Jagdeep always had cordial terms with him and even after becoming the governor of Bengal he would first visit his house in Jaipur before going anywhere else.
Randeep’s wife Saroj Dhankhar also expressed her happiness over the announcement of his brother-in-law’s name.
“My brother-in-law is a very humble person. He doesn’t behave like a governor at home and we are happy with the announcement. Whenever he visits us, he never makes any special demands regarding food. Whatever is available he is always happy to eat. We just want him to be elected, which will be delightful for our family and our village,” said Saroj.
Talking about his brother, Randeep said that Jagdeep has donated a lot of money for the development of his village school. Randeep said if Jagdeep gets elected, he will be able to do more for his ancestral village.
