NEW DELHI: In a letter bomb on Tuesday night, Uttar Pradesh Minister Dinesh Khatik submitted his ‘resignation’ to Union Home Minister Amit Shah complaining that he is being neglected and ignored in his department.

Khatik is the Minister of State in the Jal Shakti Department of the Uttar Pradesh government.

In his letter to Shah, Khatik complained that he is neither invited to any departmental meetings nor is updated about the programmes of the department. He has further mentioned that the senior officers of the department don’t reply to his calls and letters.

Uttar Pradesh BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh is Jal Shakti minister in the state.

In his letter, Khatik praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his working style.

He has alleged in the letter that there was massive corruption in the department in the recent episode of transfer-posting. He has also alleged corruption in the Namami Gange project, a flagship project of the Union government.

An MLA from Hastinapur constituency in Meerut, Khatik was also a minister in the previous government of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Khatik has written that BJP came to power because of their hard work and inclusive politics.

In the current letter, though he has not mentioned Swatantra Dev Singh, on many occasions, Khatik has hinted that all is not well between him and Singh.

Khatik did not attend the meeting called by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday.

In the meeting, CM Yogi asked the senior ministers to share work with the junior ministers in their departments and allocate work to them. He also asked the senior ministers to keep the junior ministers in the loop about the various initiatives of the department.

Sources in the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s office told The New Indian that the office has not received any resignation letter from Khatik.

In a crackdown on corruption in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suspended five officials of the PWD department. The OSD to PWD Minister Jitin Prasada, Anil Kumar Pandey, was also shunted out. It was alleged that there was corruption in the recent transfers of PWD officials.

On receiving complaints about corruption in the PWD, CM Yogi Adityanath constituted a committee on July 12 which submitted its report on July 16. The sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said that the recent action was taken based on the submitted report.
