NEW DELHI: Delhi Police claimed to have busted a gang of fake passport makers who were allegedly involved in procuring the fake passport for the cousin of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The cousin is identified as Sachin Thapan who fled the country after hatching the conspiracy of killing Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala.

DCP (south) Benita Mary Jaiker said a total of five persons including a woman were arrested in connection with the fake passport racket case. The accused are identified as Rahul Sarkar, 27, Arjit Kumar, 55, Navneet Prajapati, 33, Somnath Prajapati, 33 and a 27-year-old woman. All were arrested from south Delhi’s Saket.

The gang is in nexus with notorious Lawrence Bishnoi, who is the main conspirator of the Moosewala killing. Sachin, Anmol and Goldy Brar are the other conspirators. Goldy Brar was already based in Canada, however, Sachin and Anmol fled the country soon after the killing of Moosewala.

During interrogation, Rahul Sarkar disclosed that he was in touch with members of the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang and he helped Sachin Thapan (nephew of Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi) in making his passport based on forged documents in the name of Tilak Raj Toteja, a resident of Sangam Vihar in Delhi. Sarkar used his residential address in making fake passports.

It was also revealed that Arijit asked Rahul to get an Indian passport prepared with any forged ID. The amount for making the passport was fixed at Rs 1,50,000 per passport for the job. A year ago, Sarkar prepared his forged Voter ID and Aadhaar in the name of Tilak Raj Toteja. Based on that Aadhaar card, he obtained a Voter ID Card in advance for forgery.

Toteja was the previous landlord of the property, which is at present in the possession of Sarkar’s family. The electricity bill is still in the name of Tilak Raj Toteja. From here, he got an idea to create his ID to commit forgery in future, said the police.

Police said a sophisticated single-shot country-made pistol, two laptops, 4 mobile phones and one dongle have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
