Jharkhand To Have 3 More Airports, 14 New Air Routes Soon: Scindia

NEW DELHI: Three more airports and 14 additional air routes will be operationalized soon in Jharkhand, Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Tuesday.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the inauguration of the Deoghar airport, Scindia said that the three airports will be developed in Bokaro, Dumka, and the steel city of Jamshedpur.

With PM Modi listening, Scindia said, “The new airport in Deoghar will significantly improve connectivity in the region. The three additional airports will further boost economic prosperity in the state.”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation of development projects worth over Rs 16,000. Deoghar Airport has been constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 400 crore. Its terminal building is equipped to handle over five lakhs passengers annually, as per the PMO.

Praising the prime minister for taking steps to increase air connectivity in the country, Scindia said, “Traditionally, airports existed in rich cities only, but PM Modi has changed the situation. The establishment of airports in small cities has led to a spurt in economic activities.”
