KOLKATA: All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) to induct three new national spokespersons, sources close to the party reveal.

“Kirti Azad, Babul Supriyo and Mukul Sangma will be the new spokesperson of AITC,” a party source told The New Indian.

Kirti Azad, Babul Supriyo and Mukul Sangma all joined AITC in 2021.

Former India international cricketer Azad started his political career with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), moving to Congress before switching over to AITC.

Like Azad, famous singer Supriyo too started his political career in BJP before moving to AITC. The former chief minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma along with 11 MLAs resigned from the Congress party and joined AITC.

After their thumping win at the Bengal assembly poll in 2021, AITC is looking to expand its presence in other states. Though they are yet to taste any significant success, the party is hopeful to play a bigger role in national politics with recent additions in various states including Assam.

AITC is also planning to hold regular press conferences during the parliamentary sessions, sources said.
