Jharkhand’s Nilambar-Pitambar Jal Samridhi Yojana Completes 1 Year

NEW DELHI: Jharkhand government’s Nilambar-Pitambar Jal Samridhi Yojana, which has changed the face of barren land in the state, completed one year on Wednesday. The upper Tand land is being saturated by adopting the principle of watershed management.

These rainwater harvesting techniques are creating opportunities for irrigation. Under the MGNREGA, schemes such as Trench-cum-Bund, check dams, field bund, etc are being covered.

This has created a major employment scheme for the local villagers, and as well as the water which would flow away ordinarily is being conserved.

Under the scheme, 73,034 schemes of Trench-cum-Bund and 60,820 schemes of Field Bund were completed in the year 2021-22. The highest number of Trench-cum-Bunds have been constructed in Giridih with a total of 11,305. For Garhwa a total of 10,125 have been constructed while 8466 have been constructed in Latehar.

On the other hand, 6676 in Seraikela, 6150 in West Singhbhum, and 5464 such schemes have been completed.The government prepares to achieve the target of 49,589 Trench-cum-Bunds and 49,756 Field Bunds in the year 2022-23.

In the past rigorous efforts, 7940 schemes of Trench-cum-Bund and 6689 Field Bund schemes have been completed in the previous year.

The Nilambar-Pitambar Jal Samridhi Yojana has come out to be a means of employment for the local villagers.
