DEHRADUN: “How’s the f****ng josh? High Sir!” Ambience charged with patriotism, emotions running high among newly inducted Indian Army officers on Saturday in Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun as it witnessed 288 cadets graduating to become part of the second-largest Army in the world.
A total of 377 ‘Gentleman Cadets’ (GCs), 150 from Regular Course and 133 from Technical Graduate Course, including 89 GCs from eight friendly foreign countries successfully passed out from the IMA.
The GCs wrapped in olive green displayed enthusiasm and zeal to put up an excellent show as they marched with perfection to Military tunes of ‘Col Bogey’ along with ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’ and ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’. Pride and élan reflected on each step they took.
Their families and loved ones, including those watching the live coverage on all media platforms across the globe, witnessed each step with great affection.
Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Bhinder, AVSM, VSM, ADC, GOC-in-C, South Western Command, was present as the Reviewing Officer of the Parade.
He congratulated the Gentleman Cadets on the successful completion of their training and complimented the instructors and GCs for the excellent parade, immaculate turnout as well as the crisp, synergised drill movements indicating high standards of training and discipline imbibed by the young leaders.
“I would like to compliment all the 89 Gentleman Cadets from various Friendly Foreign Countries who have come to India and completed their training at IMA, Dehradun. I am sure you, as ambassadors of your country, will carry back a treasure trove of good memories of the place and training with you which you can cherish for a lifetime,” Lt Gen Bhinder said.
“The training imparted by the Indian Military Academy will be a bedrock for your growth both professionally and personally and will strengthen the friendly ties between all our armies,” the Reviewing Officer added.
Meanwhile, the coveted Sword of Honour was presented to ACA Mausam Vats while the Gold Medal for the Gentlemen Cadet standing First in the Order of Merit was presented to AUO Niraj Singh Papola.
The Silver Medal for the Gentlemen Cadet standing second in the Order of Merit was presented to ACA Mausam Vats and the Bronze Medal for the Gentlemen Cadet standing third in the Order of Merit was presented to BCA Ketan Patial.
Silver Medal for the Gentlemen Cadet standing first in the Order of Merit from the Technical Graduate Course was presented to JUO Digaant Garg.
Bangladesh Medal for the Gentlemen Cadet standing First in the Order of Merit from Foreign GCs was presented to JUO Tenzin Namgay.
Chief of Army Staff Banner was awarded to Sangro Coy for standing Overall First amongst 16 companies for the Spring Term 2022.
