NEW DELHI: Days after the broad daylight murder of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will meet his family members on Tuesday, party sources said on Monday.
According to Congress sources, Rahul Gandhi, who was on a foreign visit and had returned to India on Saturday night will meet the family members of Moosewala on Tuesday in Punjab’s Mansa district.
The source said that Rahul Gandhi will visit his family members at noon on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot met the family on Monday. While speaking to the media, the Pilot said that the killings in Punjab have to stop as such incidents are being carried out to instil fear among the people of Punjab.
Moosewala, who had joined the Congress in December last year and contested unsuccessfully from Mansa Assembly seat earlier this year in Punjab assembly polls was killed on May 29 evening in Jawaharke village.
He sustained 19 bullet injuries leading to his death. He was murdered a day after the AAP-led Punjab government had removed the security cover of over 400 people in the state.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also met the family members of Moosewala in his native village Moosa.
Even Moosewala’s family met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday.
The AAP government has come under severe criticism from the opposition parties over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The AAP government also faced the flak from the opposition parties over the broad daylight killing of Moosewala.
