Ansarullah Case: NIA Files Chargesheet Against One

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a supplementary chargesheet against one person in the Ansarullah terror module case in Tamil Nadu.

The NIA filed a supplementary chargesheet against Divan Mujipeer aka Divan, who had met several accused in UAE to form an extremist religious group Ansarullah with an intention to establish Islamic rule in India especially in Tamil Nadu through violent Jihad.

An NIA spokesperson here said that the agency has filed a supplementary charge sheet against Mujipeer, a resident of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu under several sections of IPC and section 13 of UA(P) Act.

“During the investigation, the chargesheeted accused Mujipeer was found to have conspired with co-accused persons namely, Mohammed Ibrahim, Mohammed Sheik Maitheen, Meeran Ghani and Gulam Nabi Asath at UAE to form an extremist religious group, namely Ansarullah with an intention to establish Islamic rule in India especially in Tamil Nadu through violent Jihad,” the official said.

The official said that they had circulated a magazine named Thozhan for propagating extreme jihadi ideologies of ISIS and Al Qaeda.

The case pertains to a criminal conspiracy hatched by accused persons and their associates, who had pledged to the violent extremist ideology of terrorist organisations including Al-Qaeda and ISIS. They had formed a terrorist gang namely Ansarullah while being in UAE and in India.

The NIA said that they had recruited like-minded youth into their fold besides conducting religious classes with the intention of waging violent jihad for establishing Islamic rule in India.

NIA had earlier filed a charge-sheet against 11 accused persons on January 8, 2020.
