NEW DELHI: Separatist leader Yasin Malik, who has been advocating breaking Kashmir from India, has accepted all charges against him in a terror funding case in the Patiala House court.
The former chief of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, the outfit that almost destroyed Kashmir and put its locals in an ugly face-off with India’s security forces, is a co-accused along with Lashkar-e-Toiba chief Hafeez Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahudin.
Malik, who is also facing a separate charge of murder of four Indian Air Force officials in 1990, has been facing the investigation by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) under six draconian sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
This includes Section 16 (terrorist act), section 17 (raising funds for the terrorist act), section 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act), and section 20 (being a member of a terrorist gang and organisation) of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) apart from section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition).
The court will now hear his matter on May 19 where it is likely to deliver quantum of punishment as Malik did not contest the charges.
The court has also framed charges against Shabir Ahmad Shah, Masarat Alam, Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate and Masarat Alam among 15 others.
On March 17, the court had said that it was an orchestra conspiracy and their plan was straight from the playbook of Adolf Hitler.
