Bhutto Heir Becomes Youngest Pak FM

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has been appointed as the new foreign minister of Pakistan.

 

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD: Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, was sworn in as the youngest foreign minister of the Islamic country on Wednesday.

Bhutto-Zardari, 33, is the son of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in 2007, and grandson of another former Pakistan Prime Minister late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

An Oxford graduate, he is a black belt in Taekwondo.

President Arif Alvi administered the oath to him in a swear-in ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his other member of the cabinet.

Bhutto-Zardari’s father and former Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and sister Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari also attended the oath-taking ceremony.

In a tweet, Bilawal’s sister Aseefa said, “Congratulations to the youngest Foreign Minister in Pakistan’s history @BBhuttoZardari. The task is daunting, and the previous government have hurt our international standing but I have no doubt that you will make our country, party, and family proud.”
