NEW DELHI: With an eye to replicate his leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘Delhi Model’, newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited state government-run health institutes and schools on Monday.

Mann was accompanied by Kejriwal, who is also the national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Manish Sisodia, the Deputy CM of Delhi, as they visited Dr Ambedkar Institute of Excellence in Kalkaji along with mohalla clinics in Greater Kailash and Chirag Enclave.

Mann was also accompanied by senior officials from both education and health and family welfare departments of the Punjab government.

“The revolution in the education system (of Delhi) is discussed across the country. We will replicate the same model in Punjab where students from rich and poor backgrounds will get quality education together. The country will progress this way by learning from each other,” Mann said.

During his visit to one of the mohalla clinics, patients told Mann that on an average, a person spends just 10 minutes to meet the doctor and get prescribed medicines.

Talking about the mohalla clinics, Kejriwal said, “Ninety-Five per cent of the patients visiting the mohalla clinics are happy with the services. Anybody, be it from any state, can come and get free treatment at these health facilities.”

“We have opened two mohalla clinics in Delhi’s most posh area — Greater Kailash — and a lot of rich patients also come to these centres. They say they do not get such care anywhere else,” Kejriwal told Mann.

During their election campaign in Punjab, AAP had promised to improve the condition of schools and hospitals in Punjab on the lines of its work in Delhi.

Mann had earlier said that he and his senior officers would visit health institutes and schools in the national capital to learn the ‘Delhi model’ and replicate it in the state.
