NEW DELHI: Moving ahead in its probe into the Jahangirpuri violence, the Delhi Police have arrested another accused who allegedly supplied firearms to accused Yunus aka Sonu Chikna, and charged five accused including him under stringent NSA, it said on Tuesday.
The Delhi Police has also charged five accused arrested under the stringent national Security Act (NSA).
A source in Delhi Police told The New Indian that the Crime Branch, which has taken over the probe of the case, has arrested Rasool, adding that he has been sent to four days police custody by a court.
The source further said that Rasool was taken into custody for questioning to ascertain his role in the violence.
On April 17, a video of Yunus surfaced on social media platforms where he could be seen firing shots during the clashes in northwest Delhi.
Meanwhile, the police have charged five accused — Ansar, Saleem aka Chikna, Yunus, Dilshad and Aheed — in connection with the Jahangirpuri violence case under National Security Act (NSA), the source added.
Two groups of people clashes in Jahangirpuri after allegedly stone were pelted on a Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra on Saturday, injuring several persons including two policemen.
The Delhi Police has made heavy deployment of its force in the area to maintain law and order.
