MUMBAI: Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, after courting each other for nearly four years, tied the knot on Thursday, making this announcement public on their own social media platforms.

The Udta Punjab actress took to Instagram and posted their pictures, along with a heartfelt note.  In their photographs, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actor is looking like a spitting image of the role he essayed where he harboured secret love for Anushka Sharma.

“Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home in our favourite spot – the balcony we’ve spent the last 5 years of our relationship – we got married. With so much already behind us, we can’t wait to build more memories together; memories that are full of love, laughter, comfortable silences, movie nights, silly fights, wine delights and Chinese bites,” she wrote.

“Thank you for all the love and light during this very momentous time in our lives. It has made this moment all the more special,” she added.

Their wedding was an intimate affair with only families and close friends in attendance. Apart from their families, Karan Johar and Ayan Mukerji were also present at the wedding.

Ranbir and Alia had started dating each other during the shooting of their upcoming movie ‘Brahmastra’ which is slated to release in September 2022. The couple made their relationship public in 2018.

Recently, they visited Varanasi and offered prayers at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple as they wrapped the shooting of the movie which has been in the making for five years. It is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar.

‘Brahmastra’ also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna. Touted as the most expensive movie ever made in Bollywood, at a budget of approximately Rs 350 crore, this will mark the coming together of Ranbir and Alia as an onscreen couple for the first time.
