ISLAMABAD: Amid political instability triggered by a no-confidence vote against PM Imran Khan, Pakistan on Saturday said it had successfully tested fired Shaheen III, a nuclear capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile.
“Pakistan today conducted a successful flight test of Shaheen-III surface to surface ballistic missile. The test flight was aimed at revalidating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) tweeted.

Shaheen III has the capacity to hit targets up to 2750 km, making it the longest-range missile in the arsenal of Pakistan. The two-stage, solid-fuelled, medium-range ballistic missile can carry nuclear as well as conventional payloads, Pakistani military authorities said.
Shaheen-III was first displayed in a military parade in 2016.
This test comes as the voting in the Pakistan National Assembly over the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to be held after 8 pm (local time) on Saturday.
