UP Records 54.18% Polling In Last Phase of Assembly Polls Till 5 PM

LUCKNOW: The last and seventh phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections witnessed a voter turnout of 54.18 percent till 5 pm, the data provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI) shows.

The highest voting of 59.54 percent was recorded in Chandauli district, whereas Varanasi was at the bottom of the list with 52.31 percent polling till 5 pm. The polling started at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm.

The nine districts where voting was held on Monday recorded an average polling percentage of 46.4 percent till 3 pm and 35.51 percent till 1 pm.

More than 2.06 crore were to exercise their franchise in 54 assembly constituencies spread across nine districts in this phase. Of the total electorate, there are 1.09 crore male, 97.08 lakh female, and 1027 third gender voters, as per the commission.

613 candidates including 75 women are in the fray in this phase which covers Azamgarh, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Mau, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Varanasi.

There are a total 23614 polling booths and 12210 polling stations in the last phase of the election. The counting of voters will be held on March 10.
