LUCKNOW: Even as polling for the fourth phase in Uttar Pradesh is underway in full swing, Abhishek Mishra, Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow, said that people have rejected the hate politics of Hindu and Muslims and are voting for development.

Speaking to The New Indian after casting his vote at Sarojini Nagar assembly seat, Mishra said, “The mood is positive, and people of Uttar Pradesh are participating in the elections with enthusiasm.”

According to him, people of his constituency are already cheering for SP as they believe that only this party will work for their development.

“They trust that we will work to bring good roads, health and education facilities. And people have rejected those who are talking about the Hindu Muslims,” the Samajwadi Party leader said.

When asked about BJP fielding former Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer Rajeshwar Singh, Mishra said, “We are going to change the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.”

This time, the BJP denied ticket to Swati Singh, who was also a minister in the BJP government in the state.

The polling for the fourth phase is underway in Uttar Pradesh’s 59 assembly seats. The polling for the rest three phases are scheduled on February 27, March 3 and 7 and counting votes will take place on March 10.

The ruling BJP is eyeing for a second consecutive term while the SP is trying to make a comeback in the state.
