IPL auction 2022: Livingstone, Jofra Archer, Tim David make a splash on Day 2

During the two days of the mega Indian Premier League auction, a number of youngsters stunned everyone by fetching astronomical prices by different teams. Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan and medium-pacer Deepak Chahar emerged as the two most expensive buys of the IPL auction 2022 by fetching Rs 15.25 crore and 14 crore respectively. Kishan was bagged by the Mumbai Indians, while Chennai Super Kings bought Chahar.

Avesh Khan created history by becoming the most expensive uncapped player ever in the annals of the IPL. He was sold for Rs 10 crore to Lucknow Super Giants. Kolkata Knight Riders splurged Rs 12.25 crore to buy explosive middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer.

Royal Challengers Bangalore paid Ts 10.75 crore for both Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and last season’s purple cap winner Harshal Patel.

Rajasthan Royals coughed up Rs 10 crore to buy Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna, while Gujarat Lions bought New Zealand’s fast bowler Lockie Ferguson.

Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia were sold for Rs 9 crore each to Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans respectively. Rahul Tripathi was bought for Rs 8.5 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On Day 2, England’s Liam Livingstone emerged as the most sought-after cricketer as he was bought for Rs 11.5 crore. Mumbai Indians shelled out Rs 8 crore for supersonic pacer Jofra Archer. West Indies allrounders Romario Shepherd and Odean Smith were sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings for Rs 7.75 crore and 6 crore respectively.

The 25-year-old Singapore cricketer Tim David was snapped up by Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 8.25 crore. He was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore last year as replacement for Finn Allen in IPL 2021, and played just one match in the season.

Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube was bagged by the CSK for Rs 4 crore. However, India’s U-19 World Cup winning captain Yash Dhull attracted only Rs 60 lakh. He was bought by Delhi Capitals.
