It appears the Prime Minister is deeply involved in Kashi Vishwanath Dham and keeps a tab on all issues and progress in Varanasi. When the PM got to know that the workers are not allowed to wear footwears made of leather or rubber, he immediately got 100 pairs of jute footwear procured and sent them over to Kashi Vishwanath Dham so that the workers performing their duties don’t have to stay bare-footed in the biting cold.
The workers at Kashi Vishwanath Dham have expressed their happiness over PM Modi’s gesture.
The sanctum sanctorum of Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingams of India. The Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on December 13, 2021. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple which was only 3,000 square feet has now been converted into 5,00,000 square feet that can host 50,000 to 75,000 devotees at a time.
The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project connects the temple with the ghats of ganga. People visiting the temple can directly do a darshan of the holy river Ganga. The First phase that PM Modi inaugurated is built at a cost of Rs 339 crores. The Project foundation was laid in 2019 and is built over an overall cost of Rs 800.
