No Lockdown In Delhi Anytime Soon, Says CM Kejriwal After Recovering

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind kejriwal on Sunday said that Delhi is not expected to announce a lockdown amid current covid cases.

“There will be no lockdown in the city if you wear masks. We don’t want to impose a lockdown; that is not our intention… We want to impose as few restrictions as possible so that people’s livelihoods are not impacted.”

CM said that he has recovered from covid and precautions must be taken against it.

 

More than 22,000 covid cases are expected today. There is no need to panic as hospitalisation rate is lower than the second wave, he added.

Kejriwal said that, “During the second wave of Covid-19 in May last year, Delhi reported more than 20,000 cases per day. However, this time the daily deaths are comparatively very low than the second covid wave.”

CM Kejriwal also said that a Delhi Disaster Management Authoruty (DDMA) meeting has also been scheduled with healthcare experts on Monday. Review of the status of hospital bed occupancy, cases and restrictions are on the agenda.

Delhi reported 20,181 fresh cases of coronavirus and seven death on Saturday. Single day hike in caes crossed crossed the 20,000 mark on saturday, highest after May 2, 2021.
