PM Modi Honoured With Order Of Druk Gyalpo – Bhutan’s Highest Civilian Honour

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with Bhutan’s highest civilian honour, The Order of the Druk Gyalpo, on Friday. This is the 10th international award given by various governments to PM Modi.
Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lotay Tshering congratulated PM Modi and tweeted: “Overjoyed to hear his Majesty pronounce Your Excellency Modiji’s name for the highest civilian decoration, order of Druk Gyalpo.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked him with a tweet saying, “Thankyou, Lyonchhen @PMBhutan! I am deeply touched by the warm gesture, and express my grateful thanks to his majesty the King of Bhutan.

The PM wrote that, “I have been privileged to receive the utmost love and affection from our Bhutanese brothers and sisters, and take this occasion to convey my greetings to all of them on the auspicious occasion of the National Day of Bhutan.

 

The highest civilian honour from Bhutan joins a long list of awards the PM has received. The International awards and honours received by PM include: King Abdulaziz Sash Award (2016); State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan (2016); Grand Collar of the State of Palestine (2018); Seoul Peace Prize (2018); United Nations’ Champions of the Earth Award (2018); Order of St Andrew the Apostle, the highest order of the Russian Federation (2019); Zayed Medal from the UAE (2019); Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin from Maldives (2019); Legion of Merit, Degree: Chief Commander by United States of America (2020) and now, The Order of the Druk Gyalpo Class I by Bhutan (2021).
