NEW DELHI: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has sent legal notices to several individuals, including politicians and coaching institute representatives, over allegations of irregularities in the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) conducted on December 13, 2024.

Describing the accusations as “baseless” and defamatory, the BPSC has sought evidence from the accusers. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Examination Controller of BPSC, confirmed the notices but refrained from naming all recipients.

Among those targeted is Kishor, who has been asked to provide “irrefutable and verifiable evidence” within seven days. Responding to the notice, Jan Suraaj Party Vice President Y.V. Giri dismissed it as “misconceived” and suggested it could be ignored.

Khan Sir, a popular tutor and YouTuber from Patna who has supported protesting students, also received a notice. He confirmed the development and plans to consult his legal team before responding. Khan Sir reiterated his commitment to students’ rights and revealed his intention to approach the Patna High Court.

The controversy escalated as police registered an FIR against a Patna-based coaching institute allegedly linked to Khan Sir for spreading misinformation about the examination. The BPSC clarified that additional notices were sent to other individuals and coaching institute owners.

Protests against the alleged irregularities have gained significant traction, with students demanding the exam’s cancellation. Independent MP Pappu Yadav announced a Bihar bandh on January 12 to support their cause.

Congress student wing NSUI’s national president, Varun Choudhary, visited the protest site at Gardani Bagh and expressed solidarity with the demonstrators. Leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Pappu Yadav, and Prashant Kishor have also extended their support, urging Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to intervene.

The government has denied allegations of a question paper leak but has ordered a re-examination for over 12,000 candidates from a specific Patna test centre.

Protests continued over the weekend, with students organizing a torchlight march from Income Tax Golambar to Dak Bungalow crossing, reiterating their demands for justice and accountability. The issue remains unresolved, fueling political and public discourse across the state.
