Until now, Indian troops operating in Lebanon have been using vehicles provided by the UN, which were sourced from various countries. However, with the induction of these Made-in-India vehicles, the Indian battalion will now be able to rely on homegrown platforms that are robust and well-suited to the mission’s requirements. This marks a pivotal moment for India’s defense manufacturing sector, showcasing the country’s growing self-reliance in defense production.

The decision to deploy indigenous vehicles is also a reflection of India’s commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities while supporting the Make in India initiative. By relying on locally manufactured vehicles, India not only strengthens its defense infrastructure but also promotes the use of advanced technologies developed by Indian manufacturers.

As India continues to play a vital role in global peacekeeping efforts, the use of these vehicles in UNIFIL will further cement the country’s standing as a key player in international peace and security.
