NEW DELHI: The Indian National Congress is set to inaugurate its new headquarters, Indira Gandhi Bhawan, on January 15, 2025. The state-of-the-art facility, located at 9A, Kotla Road, New Delhi, will be unveiled during a grand ceremony at 10:00 AM.
Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, will formally inaugurate the new headquarters in the presence of Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress President, and Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Named after Indira Gandhi, India’s first woman Prime Minister and one of the most iconic leaders in the country’s history, the new headquarters reflects the Congress Party’s enduring mission to uphold the vision of its stalwarts. As the party that spearheaded India’s freedom movement under leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel, the Congress continues to work towards building a modern, democratic, and equitable India.
The inaugural event will witness the participation of approximately 400 prominent leaders from across the nation. Invitees include members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Presidents, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leaders, and Members of Parliament from both houses. Former Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and General Secretaries of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) are also among the distinguished guests.
The Indira Gandhi Bhawan, designed to address the evolving needs of the party, features advanced facilities to support administrative, organisational, and strategic functions. The building project was initiated during Sonia Gandhi’s tenure as Congress President, underscoring her long-standing contributions to the party’s growth and modernisation.
K. C. Venugopal, General Secretary of the AICC, described the headquarters as a symbol of the Congress Party’s forward-looking vision while paying tribute to its rich history, which has shaped the political and social fabric of India.
The ceremony is expected to be a landmark event for the Congress Party, celebrating its legacy and signalling its commitment to the future.
