SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a charge sheet against two individuals in connection with the seizure of arms and explosives tied to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM).

According to an official statement, the charge sheet was presented to the NIA Special Court in Jammu, naming Waheed Ul Zahoor, a driver whose vehicle contained the illegal materials, and Mubashir Maqbool Mir, another key accused.

The incident occurred on June 30, 2024, at a checkpoint in Machipora, Rashidabad, Baramulla, where security forces intercepted a suspicious vehicle. The driver, Waheed, attempted to flee but was apprehended. A subsequent search uncovered arms, explosives, and other evidence linked to HM activities.

Investigations revealed Waheed’s role as an Over Ground Worker (OGW) for HM. Searches conducted at his residence in Mujgung, Srinagar, yielded additional evidence.

The probe further implicated Mubashir Maqbool Mir as a conspirator who allegedly provided financial support to Waheed and aided in facilitating the transport of the materials. Mubashir was later arrested.

The NIA stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the conspiracy and determine the intended destination of the seized items.
