JAMMU: In a sweeping operation, Jammu Police launched an extensive crackdown on terror networks linked to banned groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). Police carried out 56 coordinated raids across four districts in the Jammu region, leading to multiple arrests and significant recoveries of incriminating materials.
The operation, aimed at dismantling logistical and recruitment networks, saw the arrest of several Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and terror suspects. Among the items seized were electronic gadgets, sensitive documents, unaccounted cash, firearms, and ammunition, officials revealed.
“Based on the evidence and intelligence gathered during the raids, investigations will continue, and further action is planned to target remaining elements threatening the region’s peace,” said Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone.

The crackdown spanned multiple locations, with police focusing on residential properties and suspected hideouts. In Rajouri district alone, searches were conducted in nine areas, including Darhal, Kalakote, Manjakote, and Dharamsal. Similarly, in Poonch district, operations covered locations such as Surankote, Mandi, Mendhar, and Gursai.
In Udhampur, 25 sites in Basantgarh and nearby areas like Rai Chak, Chaka, Kadwah, and Sang were searched. Reasi district saw 10 raids in regions like Puni, Gulabgarh, Arnas, and Mahore-Chasana.
The raids are part of ongoing investigations into two separate terror cases: one registered at Thannamandi Police Station in 2013 and another at Rajouri Police Station earlier this year. These cases involve a network of individuals linked to JeM and LeT who are accused of activating OGWs to facilitate arms movement, recruit members, and finance terror activities.
“The police’s objective was to identify and apprehend individuals aiding terrorist outfits by providing logistical support and funds. This action underscores our commitment to safeguarding the region from disruptive elements,” a police spokesperson stated.

The two-day operation was meticulously executed to minimize inconvenience to civilians and avoid collateral damage. Officials assured the public that intelligence-led operations would continue to neutralize terror threats.
Commenting on the operation, ADGP Anand Jain emphasised the importance of public cooperation.
“We urge citizens to report any suspicious activities in their surroundings and support collective efforts against terrorism,” he said. He further reiterated that ongoing efforts by security forces aim to dismantle terror modules and ensure lasting peace in the region.”
