NEW DELHI: In a fiery exchange on The View, former Congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard clashed with host Joy Behar and others after being accused of being a “Russian asset.” A clip of the confrontation, shared widely on social media, shows Gabbard forcefully defending herself against what she called “baseless and defamatory” accusations.

The incident began when Behar referenced past criticisms of Gabbard, alleging ties to Russian propaganda and questioning her stance on U.S. foreign policy. Gabbard, visibly composed yet firm, pushed back, labeling the accusations as part of a larger trend of smearing dissenting voices in American politics.

“These attacks are not just about me,” Gabbard said. “They’re about silencing anyone who dares to challenge the establishment’s narrative, whether it’s on foreign policy, free speech, or the role of government.”

Gabbard accused *The View* hosts of perpetuating false narratives for political purposes. “When you call me a ‘Russian asset’ without evidence, you are parroting a line that seeks to discredit voices advocating for peace and accountability,” she said, drawing applause from some audience members.

The heated exchange has reignited debates over media responsibility, free speech, and the treatment of dissenting political figures. Critics of The View argue that the show has increasingly leaned into partisan rhetoric, while supporters say it provides a platform for robust debate.

On Twitter, Gabbard’s supporters hailed her response as a “takedown” of the talk show panel. “Tulsi Gabbard exposes the hypocrisy of mainstream media,” read one comment. Conversely, her critics argued that her ties to controversial foreign policy positions remain fair game for scrutiny.

Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party in 2022, has been a vocal critic of both major political parties and mainstream media narratives. The confrontation on The View is the latest chapter in her ongoing battle against what she perceives as a concerted effort to marginalize independent thinkers in U.S. politics.
