NEW DELHI: Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to depart Al Nassr during the upcoming winter transfer window, with sources indicating that Al Hilal is eyeing the Portuguese superstar as a replacement for Neymar. The Brazilian forward, who joined Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain, has faced persistent injury problems and underwhelmed on the pitch, leading to mounting criticism from fans. As a result, Al Hilal is looking to strengthen their squad by signing a proven goalscorer, with Ronaldo emerging as a potential target.

Ronaldo has enjoyed a solid individual performance since his move to Saudi Arabia, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists in 14 appearances for Al Nassr. However, despite his impressive form, he has yet to win a title with the club, which may factor into his decision to leave. His time at Al Nassr has been marred by the club’s inability to secure major trophies, which could play a role in his potential departure.

Al Hilal, meanwhile, is preparing to make a move for Ronaldo during the January 2025 transfer window, timed with the Saudi Pro League’s mid-season break. With the team still vying for both the domestic title and AFC Champions League glory, the addition of Ronaldo would bolster their attacking options as they look to maintain their competitive edge.

Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr includes a lucrative financial package, with a guaranteed salary of 90 million Euros per year. When factoring in commercial and sponsorship deals, his total annual earnings reportedly reach 200 million Euros, making him one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. Despite these generous terms, it is believed that Ronaldo’s departure from Saudi Arabia is imminent, with no return to Europe expected. His last European club was Manchester United, and a move back to a top European league has been ruled out.

Al Hilal is now poised to make a play for Ronaldo, looking to further strengthen their squad for both domestic and continental aspirations. If the transfer materializes, Ronaldo will bring not only his prolific goal-scoring ability but also his immense global stature to a club seeking to solidify its place as one of Asia’s elite teams.
