New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nayab Singh Saini took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana for a second consecutive term today. The swearing-in ceremony was administered by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya in the presence of top BJP leaders and thousands of supporters in a large gathering in Panchkula.

Several key ministers were also sworn in alongside Saini, including BJP veterans Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Panwar, Rao Narbir Singh, Mahipal Dhanda, Vipul Goel, Shruti Choudhry, and Aarti Singh Rao, forming the new cabinet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah graced the occasion, along with prominent BJP chief ministers, including Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Adityanath and Madhya Pradesh’s Mohan Yadav. The event, held in Panchkula, saw heavy security arrangements as the turnout was estimated to exceed 50,000 attendees. A traffic advisory was also issued around the venue to manage the large crowds.

BJP’s Victory and Government Formation

Nayab Singh Saini was unanimously chosen as the leader of the BJP legislative party earlier this week, with MLA Krishan Kumar Bedi proposing his name and Anil Vij, a senior BJP leader, seconding it. Though Vij had initially aspired to lead the state, he extended his full support to Saini’s leadership.

Central BJP observers, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, oversaw the legislative meeting. Notable leaders such as Union ministers Manohar Lal Khattar, Rao Inderjit Singh, and Dharmendra Pradhan, along with BJP figures Biplab Deb and Mohan Lal Badoli, were also present during the discussions.

The BJP emerged victorious in the recently concluded state assembly elections, defying exit polls that had predicted a return of the Congress party. Despite trailing in early trends, the BJP secured 48 seats out of the 90, clinching a third consecutive term. The party gained further strength when three independent MLAs, including Hisar’s Savitri Jindal, extended their support.

Saini had been projected as the party’s CM face before the elections. He won his seat in the Ladwa constituency, defeating Congress candidate Mewa Singh by over 16,000 votes.

Among the new ministers is Shruti Choudhry, who comes from a prominent political family. She is the daughter of BJP leader Kiran Choudhry and Surender Singh, son of former Haryana CM Bansi Lal. Bansi Lal had served as Haryana’s chief minister thrice and held key Union portfolios, including defence and railways, under Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi’s governments. Her mother Kiran Chaudhary is also a member of parliament in Rajya Sabha from BJP.

The newly sworn-in government is expected to continue the BJP’s development agenda for Haryana, with CM Saini stating that his administration would focus on stability, growth, and public welfare.
