Rapper Hanumankind Shines at ‘Modi & US’ Event in New York

PM Modi personally met and hugged Hanumankind after his electrifying performance in ‘Modi & US’ event in New York.

NEW DELHI: Bengaluru-based rapper Hanumankind electrified the audience at the ‘Modi & US’ event in New York, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thousands of Indian-Americans.

His performance of the hit single “Big Dawgs” left attendees buzzing, showcasing his unique blend of hip-hop that draws from both Indian and American influences.

Videos circulating online capture the vibrant atmosphere as Hanumankind took center stage, captivating the crowd with his dynamic delivery.

Following the performance, PM Modi personally met Hanumankind, greeting him with a warm “Jai Hanuman” and a hug, a gesture that highlighted the rapper’s impact at the event.

Hanumankind formally known as Sooraj Cherukat, was born  in 1992 in Ponnani, Kerala. He moved to Texas in childhood due to his father’s job in the oil industry. He faced bullying during his youth, an experience that shaped much of his lyrical content.

Influenced by southern hip-hop legends like Three 6 Mafia and Project Pat, Hanumankind developed a distinct style, blending elements from artists like Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne.

After completing his studies at PSG College in Coimbatore, he relocated to Bengaluru, where he briefly worked at Goldman Sachs before fully committing to his passion for music.

His underground presence grew as he performed at events such as NH7 Weekender and released his debut EP “Kalari,” paying homage to the traditional martial art of Kerala.

Hanumankind’s recent viral success with “Big Dawgs,” featuring Kalmi, solidified his status as an emerging sensation in the Indian hip-hop scene. The visually stunning music video, shot in Ponnani, contributed to the track’s widespread appeal.
