NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially distanced itself from recent controversial remarks made by its Member of Parliament, Kangana Ranaut, regarding the farmers’ protest. In a press release issued today, the BJP clarified that Ranaut’s statements do not reflect the party’s position.

“The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers’ protest does not reflect the party’s view. The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with the statement made by Kangana Ranaut. The party has neither given permission nor authorized Kangana Ranaut to speak on party policies or to issue any statements on behalf of the party,” the press release stated.

The party has neither given permission nor authorized Kangana Ranaut to speak on party policies or to issue any statements on behalf of the party,” the press release stated.

The controversy began after Ranaut made a series of alarming allegations in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar and a video shared on social media platform X.

In her video, Ranaut claimed that the farmers’ protests against the now-withdrawn farm laws involved severe violence and lawlessness, alleging that “bodies were seen hanging and rapes were taking place” during the protests.

She further suggested that the situation could have escalated to a Bangladesh-like crisis if the government had not intervened.

In response, the BJP issued a clear instruction to Ranaut, stating, “The Bharatiya Janata Party has instructed Kangana Ranaut not to make any such statements in the future.”

The party emphasized its commitment to its core principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas” (With everyone, development for everyone, trust of everyone, and efforts by everyone) and assured that this policy guides its approach to national and social issues.

Ranaut also alleged that the continuation of the protests was fueled by “vested interests and foreign powers” and criticized those who, according to her, sought to destabilize the country.

The BJP’s swift response underscores its effort to maintain a unified stance on sensitive national issues and to distance itself from statements that could potentially harm its image or cause public unrest.
